Ways To Give

WAYS TO GIVE

The Steuben County Literacy Coalition provides adults, children and families cost-free education through the generous support of people like you. While public and foundation support provides the scaffolding through which the Literacy Coalition serves the community, our mission is championed through the commitment of private and corporate donors.

Annual Appeal
Each year, the proceeds from the annual campaign bridge the gap between grant dollars, contract fees, government funds and other revenue sources and the expenses associated with providing cost-free literacy services to hundreds of men, women, and children annually. A volunteer committee sets the goal, benchmarks and action plan. Annual campaign contributors are staff and board members, volunteers, students and most importantly, people like you who have a passion for and understanding of the importance of literacy in our community. To make a tax-deductible annual gift, complete the form and return it to us. We will promptly prepare and return a statement and SASE to you for your ease in mailing your gift. Upon receipt, an acknowledgment will be sent for your documentation.

Pledge Giving
Pledge giving is the installation plan for donors who want ease and convenience in making charitable gifts. Simply choose the amount and frequency of the contribution and complete the online pledge form. You will be reminded of your pledge approximately 30 days in advance of your desired payment date.

Commemorative, Holiday or Memorial Gifts
Tribute gifts are a thoughtful way to honor birthdays, anniversaries, or weddings. These tax-deductible gifts offer a meaningful way to celebrate an important event while making a difference. Memorial gifts are also a heartfelt way to remember those who are important to us and to honor their lives. The honoree or their family will receive a beautiful tribute card mailed directly from the Literacy Coalition.

United Way and Employee Giving Campaigns
Making charitable gifts directly from your paycheck is a convenient and easy way to support literacy. During the United Way campaign at your workplace, you may designate the Literacy Coalition as the recipient of your generosity. Many companies will also allow employees to donate to their charity of choice through payroll deduction.

Corporate Matching Gifts
Your gifts have even more impact when they are matched by an employer. Some companies will match, double, or triple your personal gift through an Employee Matching Gift program. Ask your employer for details.

Endowed Literacy Fund
You can make a gift of perpetuity to the endowed literacy fund housed at the Steuben County Community Foundation. Interest generated from the principle provides ongoing support for the many programs and services offered by the Literacy Coalition. Contact us or the Community Foundation at 260-665-6656  for more information.

Planned Giving
Planned gifts are for those who wish to support the Literacy Coalition’s mission in the future. Making planned gifts in the form of a bequest, trust, annuity or estate gift allow you to build your assets while ensuring the Literacy Coalition’s sustainability. Talk with your family and financial advisor about a planned gift to the Literacy Coalition.

Alphabet Affair Sponsorship
The Alphabet Affair is the Literacy Coalition’s signature event held each April. The purpose for the event is to raise awareness and support for literacy. Your business can partner with the Literacy Coalition to support literacy efforts in our community by helping to underwrite the cost of the event. By sponsoring the Alphabet Affair, your company enjoys the benefits of the goodwill generated by community involvement, public relations and media coverage as well as exposure to the Literacy Coalition’s audience. Corporate sponsorships allow more of the guests’ contributions to directly benefit students and program participants. For more information about the Alphabet Affair, check out the Alphabet Affair or News and Events pages!

In-kind Gifts
In-kind gifts such as books, supplies, goods and professional services are very important to the Literacy Coalition in reducing the operating costs of our programs. We value your new and gently used young children’s books for the ABC initiative. Office supplies, equipment and professional services are also greatly appreciated. Contact our office at 260-665-1414 or info@steubenliteracy.org.

Online Giving
For your ease and convenience, you can make a charitable gift online. Your gift helps transform the lives of the adults, children and families enrolled at the Literacy Coalition. All contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law and will be acknowledged by letter. We respect your privacy. Your credit card and personal information are protected by our secure server. The Literacy Coalition does not share mailing lists or donor information with any outside party.
