LIFT-OFF FOR LITERACY!
Ever since we were little, balloons have always captivated our attention. From birthdays to graduation parties, they are a symbol of celebration. At the Steuben County Literacy Coalition, literacy and balloons are special to us especially when it comes to our Liftoff for Literacy! During the Angola Fall Fest on September 25th, 2010, we will be releasing thousands of balloons that have been purchased by you and your friends through this e-mail campaign. Each biodegradable balloon costs only $1.00 and funds will go to support the volunteer initiatives of the Literacy Coalition.
Many members of our community depend on literacy programs for basic communication skills. Imagine not being able to make an important phone call, read the label on a medicine bottle, fill out a job application or read to your child. SCLC is a community-based volunteer organization committed to improving literacy and promoting lifelong learning here in Steuben County. Through the programs of the Literacy Coalition, people of all ages and backgrounds are given the opportunity to receive the gift of literacy. It is through the efforts our volunteers that these possibilities become a reality and you can help us continue with our mission with this year's Liftoff for Literacy!
